Christ priesthood was greater than the Levitical priesthood (Hebrews 7:1)

Melchizedek offered bread and wine spoke to Christ's body and blood (1 Corinthians 11:26)

The bread and wine at the last supper was supposed to replace the Passover. This is why Jesus said it represented the new covenant.
