Matthew was written to the Jews. The Jews didn't believe Jesus was God, that's why Matthew 28:19 says in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, it's said to help the Jews understand that Jesus is God. This is the reason Romans 10:9 says Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart, because the Jews didn't believe that Jesus was God, so that's what they needed to do to be saved. Matthew 28:19 doesn't have anything to do with a trinity

2 Corinthians 3:17 says "now the Lord is that Spirit"...this lets us know that there is only one in the godhead. It shows us that even though there is one God, he's manifested himself in 3 ways: the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. It shows us that they're not 3 distinct persons, but the one true God identifying himself to mankind through 3 different forms.

The express image of his person. Christ was the exact image of God's being, his essence in bodily form, that's what the word person means in that text. Colossians 1:15 attests to this, that Christ was the image of the invisible God, also 2 Corinthians 4:4 tells us what Hebrews 1:3 means. All these scriptures say the same thing because there is no private interpretation of scripture. Scripture backs up Scripture and all of the scriptures say that Christ was the image of God. Christ being the express image of God's person is why John 3 calls Christ the only begotten Son, he had the fullness of the Spirit of God, everyone else has to get God's Spirit through Jesus which is why he said that no one gets to the Father, but by him. Jesus said he is the truth, which lets us know that the Spirit of truth is the Spirit of Jesus.
