The testimony of Jesus Christ is the Spirit of prophecy. In the Gospel, Jesus talked about the Spirit of truth. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth, it's hearing from God, but the apostle said not to be just a hearer of God, but also do what God says. The Holy Ghost will speak to us through tongues, prophecy, dreams and visions according to Acts 2
Hebrews 6:2 says "the doctrine of baptisms"
Hebrews 9:10, says "diverse washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of redemption"
Mark 7:4 "And when they come to the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and tables"
The doctrine of baptisms was the ceremonial law, but Jesus established one baptism as stated in Ephesians 4:5 "one baptism", which is the baptism into his death and resurrection by water in his name. Christ shed his blood because forgiveness of sins could only come by the shedding of blood "an eye for an eye", and this is why by being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, Salvation takes place, starting the process of sanctification and eventually glorification.
When 1 Peter 3:20&21 says "not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God", it's saying that the 8 souls that were saved by water, unlike baptism in Jesus Christ name, it didn't take away the filth of the flesh like being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ does, being saved from the flood gave them a clear conscience toward God
Jesus was baptized for a different reason than what we are baptized for. Jesus was baptized to be consecrated as a priest because John the Baptist was a Levite. Jesus being baptized brought back the order of the Melchizedek priesthood, which is the order of the king-priest (born from the tribe of Judah, he was already the king). We are baptized because it turns us into new creatures by putting on Christ. By putting on Christ, the sins of the old person have been removed because the old person is no more living, but Christ is now living life through us. The righteousness of Christ is on us because we are in Christ through baptism. When we receive the Holy Ghost, we receive the power to stop sinning. Baptism erases our sins, and the Holy Ghost enables us not to sin anymore.
The sign of the Holy Ghost, according to every instance in Acts where people received the Holy Ghost, is speaking in tongues. I've done some research. Researching one thing led me to start researching other things. John the Baptist said that Jesus would baptize us with the Holy Ghost and fire. The Holy Ghost is the purifier talked about in Malachi. It also brings fire, which is the refiner (the trying of your faith worketh a greater glory). The fire is what purges us of our sins. The fire is the Spirit of judgment, not condemnation, but correction. The Holy Ghost guides us into righteousness, correcting us from the wrong way as we go throughout our Christian walk (walking in the Spirit).
